Police warn people to lock their homes
Police in Ammanford are warning homeowners to be on their guard after a string of burglaries.
They say five homes in the area have been targeted while families were away on holiday.
Cash and jewellery were stolen.
Detective Inspector Steve Cockwell said: "Similar offences have occurred within the Swansea valley area and we are liaising with out colleagues in South Wales to establish if the offences are linked.”
"Our enquiries are continuing to identify the people responsible and if anyone has any information which can help, they can contact Ammanford CID on 101.”
"In the meantime there are some simple tips homeowners can follow to look after their homes and valuables when going on holiday.
"First of all, report anything suspicious to police at the earliest opportunity and with as much detail as you can. For example, take down vehicle registration numbers and note descriptions of people you wouldn't normally see in your area, regardless of the time of day.”
"If you're going away on holiday, ask your neighbour to check your home and keep your valuables and jewellery safely secured.”
