Swans Sign Proctor

Saturday, August 18th 2012 01:00

Swans sign 20-year-old striker on 2-year-deal.

Just 24-hours after completing the signing of 21-year-old defender Kyle Bartley on a 3 year deal, the Swansea City have another player to add to their squad.

The club have signed Preston striker Jamie Proctor for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal.

"I'm looking forward to being a part of things and trying to impress the new manager enough to force my way into his plans"

"The club has enjoyed a lot of success over the last few years and their style of football has really caught my eye." said Proctor.

The 20-year-old scored four times during his time in League One with Preston.

It's thought Swansea Chairman Huw Jenkins is keen to bring in younger players to feature in the new under-21 set-up, which will replace reserve-team football.

"Our aim is to establish a promising group of youngsters under the under-21 banner who can develop and progress into Michael Laudrup's first-team plan," he said

"It's important to think about the present, but it's even more important to think about the future."

Proctor will not feature today in Swansea's first game of the season, away at QPR as the squad traveled to London yesterday. However Kyle Bartley could play some part in the fixture, he traveled with the squad and is expected to be on the bench.
