Swansea Recycling - Black Bags

More people in Swansea are recycling than ever before with 4 out of 5 households using the kerbside recycling service, but the time has come for ALL of us to play our part.

Swansea Council want residents to keep all recyclable materials out of their black bags and recycle as much of their waste as possible so it doesn't end up in landfill.

Why Do I Need To Recycle?

It costs Swansea tax payers £3.5 million a year to send black bags to landfill, but half of this waste could be recycled saving money which could be spent on other important council services.

The Welsh Government has set councils a target to recycle 64% of household waste by 2020. If we fail to meet this target then Swansea Council could face hefty fines.

Recycling your waste diverts it from landfill, saves energy and helps protect the environment for generations to come.

Finally... Not recycling could cost you more than you think! Those households that continue to ignore support to recycle may end up with a fine.

What Happens From 25th February 2019?

From 25 February 2019 recyclable materials will not be allowed in black bags so you must ensure that they're put into the correct recycling bag, otherwise you could face a fine
