Appeal for witnesses to M4 collision

Driver critical after vehicle left road

South Wales Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious traffic collision which happened yesterday evening on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 at Bridgend.

 The collision involved a white Toyota RAV 4, which was travelling between junction 36 towards junction 35, when for reasons not yet established, the vehicle has left the carriageway and hit trees.

It happened at 5.55pm.

The male driver of the Toyota, a 39 year old  from the Cardiff area was taken to the University Hospital of Wales where his condition remains critical.

The eastbound carriageway was closed for about six hours.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or those who may have witnessed the driving of the vehicle prior to the collision to contact South Wales Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting reference number 2000086112.
