Elderly Man's Jaw Broken in Assault

Police hunt two suspects after attack

A 70-year-old man's jaw was broken in three places after being assaulted by two men in Port Talbot.

The victim was driving with his wife along Vivian Park Drive in Sandfields when they were stopped by a man, with a white bike, standing in the middle of the road.

Police said the victim got out of his car to speak to the suspect and following an argument he was assaulted.

It happened at quarter to midnight last Saturday (Feb 18).

A second suspect also assaulted the elderly victim, which resulted in a black eye and his jaw broken in three places. He has since had surgery for his injuries.

Police have released these descriptions of the suspects:

  • Male One: White, 18-20 years-old, 5ft 10ins of average build with mousey brown hair - and was wearing a jumper and beany hat.
  • Male Two: White, 18-20 years-old, 5ft 7ins, of average build with dark brown hair with a straight cut fringe and one of his front teeth was missing. He was wearing a dark coloured coat.

A police spokesperson said: "This serious assault has really affected the local community - and especially the couple involved."
