Fundraising Appeal Launched For Mum Of Three's Funeral

Family and friends are hoping to raise twenty thousand pounds following the sudden death of Singleton Hospital nursery nurse, Elizabeth Mellor.

36 year old Liz had been suffering with flu like symptoms and a chest infection over the Christmas period. Last weekend she complained she was finding it hard to breathe and collapsed at her Neath home.

Just hours before she'd messaged her sister Rebecca asking if she could look after her twin daughters who are 3 years old because she felt so poorly.

Rebecca told us: "Our family is devastated. It just hasn't sunk in yet. My sister was one of a kind. She worshipped her husband and children. She's helped so many people - especially new mums. I've been touched by how many people have got in touch with me saying how kind and loving she was.  She was a force to be reckoned with. Just so full of life and smiling. A big cwtcher. I think anyone who met Liz would never forget her."

You can LISTEN to full interview with Rebecca here:

Liz's passion for the Ospreys led to her meeting her husband Mike. Both huge fans they became friends first before falling in love. Despite a 25 year age gap they decided they wanted to add to their family. Mike had children from his first marriage and Liz had a young son. She's been described as the most dedicated loving wife and mum to her three children.

Liz did not have life insurance and so the family now have to cover the cost of all the funeral expenses. Friends felt they should not be worrying about finances at such a difficult time and have now set up a  Go Fund Me page to help with expenses. £2,785 pounds has been raised so far out of a £20,000 target.
