Police have confirmed body is that of missing person, Christopher Parsons.
Mr Parsons, 52, from the Roath area of Cardiff, was last seen in Canton on December 28th.
His body was discovered at the Barry park by a member of the public at around 9.15am on Friday, February 23rd.
Enquiries in to the circumstances of the death are ongoing, and officers are appealing for the public's helps to piece together Mr Parsons' movements from the time he went missing until the time he was found.
Detective Inspector David Butt, from the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: "I would like to extend our sympathies to the family of Mr Parsons, and assure them that we are committed to finding out exactly how he came to be found deceased on Friday.
"The public's help is vital in enabling us to do so. We'd like to hear from anyone who thinks they may have seen Mr Parsons in the weeks before his body was discovered.
"He was captured on CCTV at a Boots store in Cardiff City Centre on December 28th wearing a very distinctive Union Jack bobble hat. Did you see him on this day? Or perhaps you've seen him since? Any information, no matter how small or insignificant it may appear, could prove crucial in this investigation.
"I'd also like to hear from any local retailers who sell, or have recently sold, a particular kind of red and white rope which was found at the scene (pictured), as again this may help us to piece together Mr Parsons' final movements."
