Locals call on tourists to stay away from Gower beauty spot

Pennard Council’s plea comes as visitor numbers increase

Pennard Community Council, along with businesses and landowners from across the ward have issued a joint statement calling for people to stop visiting the area while the coronavirus outbreak is ongoing..

At a meeting on May 12th, hosted by Pennard Community Council, the statement was agreed by organisations such as the Gower Commoners and businesses in the area.

They said:

“Whilst we value those who visit from outside the area and would like to welcome you back after the pandemic, we are asking people to stay away for the time being.

“We have noted a recent increase in people travelling to Pennard for leisure which is inappropriate, especially given our elderly population.”

The villagers pointed out that the regulations in Wales remain that no journeys of any significant distance should be taken, for example, just in order to exercise in the countryside or at beauty spots, and added:

“We politely ask people to respect these rules.”
