Earlier this year, Cate Le Bon received support from the Momentum Fund, managed by PRS Foundation with funding from the Welsh Government and the Arts Council of Wales, to support visuals and video content for the music videos accompanying the album campaign, as well as the imagery for online assets, press shots, album artwork and website. The Momentum Music Fund offers grants of £5k-£15k for UK based artists/bands to break through to the next level of their careers.
Other Welsh artists funded by Momentum in its first year in Wales are Boy Azooga, Meilyr Jones, Dan Bettridge, Pessimist (AKA Kristian Jabs), Holding Absence and Kidsmoke.
On being awarded the funding, Cate said: ““The Momentum funding allows me to fulfil my vision for the visual aesthetics that will accompany the album and in doing so will give it a unique identity that will help propel the whole album campaign.”
Congratulating Cate Le Bon, Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, Lord Elis-Thomas, said: “It’s excellent news that Cate has been nominated for this prestigious award, and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to support her in the development of the album. I wish her all the very best when the winner is revealed in September.”
Joe Frankland, Chief Executive of PRS Foundation said, “Congratulations to Cate le Bon, one of three Momentum supported artists that make up the nominations list this year alongside Anna Calvi and Little Simz. We’re delighted that with Welsh Government and Arts Council of Wales support on our Momentum Music Fund we’re able to reach more talented Welsh artists like Cate and help them get to that vital next stage of their career.”
