Man taken to hospital as a precaution

A man has been taken to hospital after he was confronted by armed police in Llanelli earlier today(March 26).

Firearms officers were called to Burry Street shortly after 2am.

Local streets were sealed off and officers fired rubber bullets during the incident.

A man was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and taken to hospital as a precaution. 

He is in police custody and the matter has been referred to the IOPC, who will conduct an independent investigation into the incident.

A spokesman said: “A cross bow was recovered from the scene but we would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident and we are not looking for anyone else.

“We appreciate the police cordon closed a large area of Seaside, which caused some disruption today. All scenes have now been released and we would we would like to thank the community for their support while vital initial enquiries were being conducted.

“A police presence remains in the area while house to house enquiries are carried out. The neighbourhood policing team are in the area to provide reassurance.

“Anyone with information is urged to speak to a police officer or PCSO, or call 101.”
