Storm Callum To Hit Wales Hardest

Met office issues amber weather warning

An amber weather warning for rain is in place for most of south west Wales this weekend as Storm Callum heads to the UK.

It look like the area is going to be the hardest hit through Friday and Saturday with strong winds and high tides also forecast. 

The Met Office warning is in place between 6am Friday 12th until 6pm the next day.

An amber warning is now in place on Friday and Saturday for a large part of Cardiff and South Wales.

Weather experts say disruption to travel is highly likely with flash floods and blackouts also possible.

A Met Office report says, "We are talking gusts of up to 60mph and 70mph in some isolated areas.

"Two swathes of very strong winds are coming as the rain pushes in from the south west.

"Southern parts of Wales seeing heavy rain through rush hour Friday morning.

"Through Friday, flooding is an issue particularly from south Wales up towards Northern parts of England and southern parts of Scotland.

"Come Saturday the waving front will still be over parts of the UK.

"All in all, wet and windy weather coming our way and dangerous driving conditions expected."
