Storms Destroy Gower Beach Path

Sink hole damage at Rhossili beach path

Video shows damage left at Rhossili beach after this weekend's torrential rain

Wales and the rest of the UK took a beating this weekend with heavy rain and winds causing problems up and down the country.

Ten flood alerts and two flood warnings remain in place across Wales this afternoon (Monday 22nd January).

There were a number of accidents on the M4 on Sunday leading to the motorway being shut numerous times throughout the day.

Police report incidents including an overturned car at Bridgend, an overturned car near Hendy and accidents throughout the day between J45 at Ynysforgan and J46 Llangyfelach.

Gower saw some villages cut off with a number of roads impassable.

Firefighters were called to help a number of people stranded in their vehicles surrounded by flood water throughout south, west and mid Wales on Sunday evening.

Crews helped people in Talsarn in Ceredigion, Llandovery in Carmarthenshire, Llancarfan in the Vale of Glamorgan and Reynoldston, Gower.

A flood warning remains in place in Pembrokeshire.

And Rhossili Bay fell victim to the torrential rain this weekend too, with a huge sink-hole appearing along the path leading down to the beach.
