A public meeting has been organised for April to update locals.
People living in Port Talbot will have the chance to find out the latest developments on plans to build a super prison on Baglan Moor in April.
Locals have been waiting months for an update with the previous meeting behind held last September.
It will take place on the 12th April at 7pm at the Aberavon Beach Hotel.
The minister responsible for prisons at Westminster, Rory Stewart, has been invited along with a representative from the Welsh Government.
The public meeting is being organised by Stephen Kinnock MP and David Rees AM.
In a joint statement, they said:"It's important that we are able to provide the latest information to local people on the intention by the MOJ to build a prison on Baglan Moors.
"We are asking both Governments to send Ministers to the meeting to listen to the views of the people and to take a clear message back to their respective governments.
"The MOJ had promised a consultation before the end of last Autumn but this has failed to happen and we need to organise this meeting to allow everyone to hear the latest information."
