Swans Through To 4th Round Of FA Cup

Graham Potter's men put in an excellent performance at Villa Park - opening the scoring two minutes in.

“It was a really good performance, I thought,” said the Swans boss.

“We got off to a great start, scoring within two minutes again, then Erwin (Mulder) makes a great save which just shows that even in a good performance there is always a moment you have to survive.

“But, when you look at the whole 90 minutes, we had good control of the game, we created some good chances and scored goals at good times again.

“We scored early in the second half, which dampens any momentum they might have picked up.

“Overall I am delighted with the players, with their attitude and desire to try. That was fantastic and we had some quality too so a good win for us.”

Leroy Fer received praise off the Swans boss.

Graham Potter feels this showing highlighted the quality the former Norwich and QPR man possesses.

“I said to him after that I thought it was his best game,” said Potter.

“But again people forget he has come back from an Achilles rupture last year, and missed a lot of the back-end of last season. He is a big guy.

“I know people talk about the consistency of team selection but it is not so simple when you have someone like him who cannot play every single minute.

“We are trying to build him up and I think now you are seeing a performance level that is closer to the Leroy Fer that I think is there.

“He has not done anything wrong, it is just normal when you come back from that time out.

“So I am delighted for him that he could influence the game.”
