Walker Dies On Mount Snowdon

A walker has died after falling more than 800ft from close to the summit.

The man was spotted falling down a steep cliff near the 3,560ft summit and is believed to have slipped and fallen from a railway track into an area called Clogwyn Coch, around 820ft below.

Volunteers from the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team were called by North Wales Police at around 12.35pm on Saturday.

A post on the rescue team's Facebook page said eight mountain rescuers were flown to the area by a Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter and the man's body was recovered and taken to a hospital.

The team offered condolences to the family and friends of the dead walker. The victim has not yet been identified.
