Pete Tong and Jess Glynne headlining at Singleton
Swansea's Singleton Park is set to host two nights of music this weekend with DJ Pete Tong and Jess Glynne.
The show starts on Saturday with Pete Tong bringing a fresh and classical twist to his classic Ibiza anthems to a crowd of 10,000 dance fans. And that’s followed-up on Sunday by chart-topping solo star Jess Glynne, back on tour after a bout of illness.
Both events are expected to draw thousands of fans to the park and a small number of road closures will be in place in the area. Parking is available at Bishop Gore School, the Recreation Ground and Singleton Hospital. But demand is likely to be high and visitors should consider booking online in advance of the gigs.
Robert Francis-Davies, Cabinet Member for investment, regeneration and tourism, said: “Last summer’s BBC Biggest Weekend proved Singleton Park was the number one spot for major music gigs.
“Now we’re proud to be welcoming Pete Tong, Jess Glynne and thousands of followers from all over the UK to what promises to be two fantastic events in one weekend.
“Coming just a fortnight after the hugely-successful Stereophonics gig, they’re helping keep Swansea on the map as Wales’ city of culture and providing support for the area’s tourism industry.”
He added: “Swansea’s 50th anniversary celebrations have been brilliant so far and there’s still a lot more to come and plenty more chances for people to be part of it.”
