Blue Peter came to The Mumbles lifeboat station to meet the crew and see their new lifeboat yesterday.
Presenter Radzi was out with Badger and the crew on exercise as they demonstrated the new RNLI all weather lifeboat and spent a day with The Mumbles Lifeboat crews' youngest member; 17 yr old Josh Double. Josh hit the headlines when the day after his 17th Birthday he had his first call out to rescue people trapped on the lighthouse island.
Josh said ' Radzi came and had breakfast at our house, mum made him toast and we hung out with my mates for a game of rugby after our morning lifeboat exercise. I've been on the crew for just over 6 months and it's been great learning about the new boat.'
Josh has been part of the fundraising team at the Mumbles RNLI lifeboat station since he was in junior school by helping at the stations annual raft race and couldn't wait to join the crew on his 17th birthday
Badger has been a member of the Mumbles crew for over 5 years and spent the day with the Blue Peter team as helm of the new 'Y Boat' the new small inflateable rescue boat while Josh was crew - relaying instructions from the All weather lifeboat - 'I'll wear my badge with pride and I can't wait to get into all those museums for free'.
