The Great Christmas Fun Run 2017
This years Great Christmas Fun Run will be at Knab Rock Mumbles on Sunday 10thDecember 2017. There's a 5k or 10k for the adults and our special 'Jaffa Cake' run for the kids of 1k. (Kids of ability can run the 5 or 10k by condition of an insurance indemnity form signed by their accompanied adult)
All profits will go to help the RNLI Mumbles lifeboat
. Last year the volunteer crew at The Mumbles took to the sea for over 90 rescues.
Each time the new All Weather lifeboat goes out it costs approximately £2500 and every time the inshore boat goes out it costs £1000. The RNLI is a charity and these boats can only keep going to sea due to the fantastic fundraising the people of South Wales do.
Fancy dress is optional but we'd love to see as many Reindeer and Santa's as possible (not forgetting the little Elves).
Registration opens at the Mumbles Yacht club from 9.00 am Sunday 10th December 2017 1k Junior run (0-13), 5k & 10k Run (10 years and over)

All Race Numbers Will Be Collected From Registration – Nothing Will Be Sent in the Mail*.

Directions from the M4
Leave M4 at junction 42; the deceleration lane bends to the left sharply so be careful!!
Join the A483 and follow it into Swansea; watch your speed (cameras).
Immediately after crossing the river, turn left. You can join either lane.
Follow the coast road all the way around the bay into Mumbles village.
Drive through the village. Drive past a mini children’s park on the left.
Drive past the Pilot pub on the right. Take the next left into Knab Rock car park.
If you go up a steep hill with the pier down to the left, you've just missed us!
Registration – Mumbles Yacht Club, Mumbles, Swansea Sat Nav – SA3 4EN

Registration will be held in Mumbles Yacht Club.
Registration times as follows:
1k – 9am – 10am
5k & 10k – 9am – 10:15am
Please queue at the appropriate registration desk in alphabetical order by surname.
3 CHIPS and Course
At registration you will be given your race number, timing chip (both 5k & 10k), event t-shirt
and goody bag. Please note that t-shirts can only be guaranteed for those who registered before the 12pm 1st December.
Course maps will be displayed at registration. Race briefings will be conducted 10 min prior to your event start time at the finish line. All athletes will then proceed to the start line located at the Swansea side of Verdi’s.
There will be a serving hot coffee/tea/chocolate and bacon butties from 830 at The Mumbles Yacht Club.
There is car parking near the race HQ. Should this become full then there are a number of
car parks located in Mumbles. Please leave enough time to park prior to the race. Please
also note that all car parks are pay and display and there are a large number of traffic
wardens in the area!!!
1k Junior fun run – 10:30am
5k & 10k - 11am (please note that we will only start this race after the junior race has

The run course will start at the Swansea side of Verdi’s and will utilise the fast, flat and very
scenic seafront path. The race will consist of 1 x 5k lap or 2 x 5k laps for the 10k. Please
keep to the left hand side at all times and please respect other path users. Should you wish
to amend your distance then please do so at registration. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
1k Fun Run Route – Out and back on the safe and secure promenade.
There will be a water station at the end of lap 1 for the 10k and also water at the finish line.
Fancy dress is encouraged and suitable footwear is a must. Please ensure you wear suitable clothing for the weather conditions.

Failure to Finish
If you are unable to finish the race you MUST report to an official to inform them.

Are you aware that the RNLI is fully self funding and can only operate from donations made by the public? We would like to take the opportunity in thanking you for signing up to the event as all profits made will be going to the Mumbles RNLI Lifeboat fund. Should you wish to raise additional funds then please fill out the sponsor form at the end of the race pack and if possible please bring the funds on race day.
Please be advised that all the marshals are giving their time for free and without their assistance we would not be able to organise the race. If possible please show your gratitude whilst on the course. Please note any abusive behavior will result in immediate disqualification.
There is a prize for 1st ,2nd ,3rd male and female overall for the 5k & 10k races. All children will receive a finisher’s medal.
Toilets are located in the yacht club and public toilets in the council building at the top of the slipway.
