Hate the new Snapchat? Here's how to get the old one back

So the new Snapchat layout arrived at your hand set and now you hate it? You're not alone, the petition to get it changed back now has over 85,000 names on it.

Snapchat say its so you see more of the news from your friends and less from the people that pay their bills?

Anyway if you hate it. Here's how to get back to what you loved.

For iOS users, delete the app on your iPhone, then connect your iPhone to your computer.

Open iTunes and select your device. But instead of syncing, click the Applications tab.

Select ‘Apps’ in the iTunes sidebar, and find Snapchat in the list.

(Turn off automatic updates in your phone)

Select the option to “Install” and then sync your device.

The old version you have backed up in iTunes will copy back to your iPhone.

For Android users, it's slightly more complicated but its doable.

Tech Advisor has provided guidelines on how to downgrade to an older version.

Firstly, find the installation file for the previous update, by searching the web for the app name, version number and APK.

Once you have the file, uninstall the newer version of Snapchat from your device, and then copy the older APK file to your phone using Windows Explorer.

Then, you’ll need to download an Android File Explorer app to find the file on your device, at which point you can install it.

Snapchat say about the new update

‘It might take a little while for the Friends page to learn the best way to display your friends, but the results are worth it.’

The Discover page will show you content from publishers and creators you’ve subscribed to at the top, with recommended Stories underneath which are chosen by an algorithm which learns from your behaviour and works out the sort of stuff you’re likely to want to see.

Curators will review and approve everything that gets promoted on the page.

Snapchat claimed ‘this balance of human review and machine personalisation provides the best content experience’. It continued: ‘Separating social from media has allowed us to build the best way to communicate with friends and the best way to watch great content, while addressing many of the problems that plague the Internet today.’
