BUDDING entrepreneurs were awarded for innovative business ideas at an event in Swansea's Liberty Stadium Tuesday 19th November hosted by our very own Siany.
Overall winners at the Young Business Dragons Awards 2013, organised by the Evening Post and the South West Wales Regional Entrepreneurship Group, were Carmarthen school Queen Elizabeth High's Safe Surfers.
Their innovative idea was inspired by surfers, and the team worked with mentor Liz James, of BaseWales and Laura Reynolds, of Coleg Sir Gar, to develop a wristband worn by surfers that can be linked to a smart phone and send an SOS signal if they get into danger.
The overall prize was sponsored by Carillion and the team also walked away with the Most Polished Pitch award, sponsored by Derwen.
Youngsters from across Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot and Pembrokeshire, have been hard at work over months, battling it out for their chance to win a place at the final of the Liberty Stadium contest in a series of semi-finals.
