Grab a Bargain Ice Cream
Ice Cream on a hot summer’s day is one of life’s greatest pleasures, and it’s cheap – at least if you’re holidaying in Spain.
Foreign exchange specialist Travelex ranked the most popular summer holiday destinations based on cost of a single scoop ice cream cone.
It found that Spain is the best place to get a bargain scoop with six different Spanish tourist spots included in the ranking.
Benidorm serves up the cheapest ice cream at less than £1 per single scoop, closely followed by Majorca and Gran Canaria at £1.30.
At the opposite end, holidaymakers with a sweet tooth travelling to the US should prepare themselves for inflated prices.
New York is currently the most expensive place to buy an ice cream at an average of £3.22. Close second is Corfu, charging the average tourist £2.61.
John Rayment from Travelex said the index is a reflection of what travellers can expect to pay for everyday items while abroad in their top ten most popular holiday destinations.
“By planning ahead, including researching the best value locations and ordering travel money in advance, people can really make their currency go further this summer,” Mr Rayment added.
